| DescriptionA database based on Visual Basic and SQL Server was developed after coordination with the staff at one of the stores. The software had a graphical user interface whereby different forms could be used for different kinds of inventory, the usage of drop-down lists eliminated the need for keypunching as well as reducing the time consumed in updating leading to efficient record keeping and minimization of errors. The software allowed the inventory to be properly classified as well as keeping track of incoming and outgoing inventory and inter go down transfer. On top of this the software had the capability of updating the main database on real time basis which means that the Computer Center could generate stock reports at any time of the day that were updated to the minute. This is a great boon to the inventory management staff as they can now anticipate stock shortages as well as reorder levels and keep inventory levels at par with the requirements. |
